Children’s National is one of the top pediatric hospitals in the United States, ranked in every specialty by U.S. News & World Report—and, for the third consecutive year, No. 1 in neonatology, the branch of medicine that treats and cares for newborns.

The Washington, DC-based hospital treated more than 237,000 patients in 2018 alone, as well as over 673,000 outpatient visits, and delivered more than $71 million in uncompensated care. Supporters of the medical center can help raise funds at the annual Race for Every Child, being held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Freedom Plaza in DC.

The race includes a USATF-certified 5K run/walk through the city, followed by the 100-yard Kids’ Dash on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Over 5,200 participants are already registered for the event (eclipsing last year’s total), with more than 325 teams formed to date. Children’s National employees are also known for joining the race as a way to connect with former patients and support current ones.

Race for Every Child’s fundraising goal is $1.55 million this year, which will go toward pediatric care, research and children’s play programs in the hospital. As of Sept. 3, $491,188.22 has been raised. For more information, to register or to donate, visit raceforeverychild.org. Registration closes Oct. 13. // Freedom Plaza: 1455 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington DC; $250 fundraising goal encouraged, $15 registration fee for Kids’ Dash
