Suspect Shot in Officer-Involved Shooting at Rosslyn Metro Station Dies

The knife-wielding suspect was shot during an altercation with police and died at the hospital, officials say.

A suspect who was shot by police in the Rosslyn Metro Station yesterday has died, Arlington County Police Department announced.

Officers were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. on December 10 to investigate a suspicious person with a knife inside a business on the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard.

Two officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect at the top floor of the Rosslyn Metro Station. As police attempted to detain him, the suspect revealed a knife, and “a physical altercation ensued.”

While the suspect brandished his knife, an officer discharged their gun, hitting the suspect. Officers then performed “lifesaving measures” on the suspect until paramedics arrived to transport him to an area hospital. A knife was later found at the scene.

The suspect was later declared deceased at the hospital. His identity has not yet been revealed while officials attempt to notify his next of kin.

Two officers were transported to the hospital as well, one with non-life-threatening injuries and one for medical evaluation. Both officers have been released and placed on routine administrative leave, per department policy.

The regional Critical Incident Report Team is now investigating the incident. When that investigation is complete, the investigative file will go to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for independent review.

Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact ACPD at 703-228-4180 or [email protected].
