Fairfax City Council holds closed meeting to confirm mayor’s resignation; UVA and ‘Rolling Stone’ defamation case will likely head to jury trial

The Fairfax City Council met for a closed session to confirm the official resignation of Mayor Richard “Scott” Silverthorne following his arrest for distributing meth. Community members gathered outside to protest the closed meeting. A public session will be held Tuesday.
