Virginia state council to consider renaming law school after Justice Scalia; Arlington will hold immigration rally

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will discuss a proposal to rename George Mason University’s law school after late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Monday in Lexington.

An immigration rally encouraging Virginia residents to pursue citizenship in time to vote in the 2016 presidential election will take place on Wednesday, May 18, at Patrick Henry Elementary School in Arlington at 7:30 p.m.

Striking union officials from Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers will meet with Verizon to resume negotiations on Tuesday. The strike launched on April 13 when approximately 39,000 employees from D.C., Virginia and eight other eastern states protested as Verizon reportedly considered freezing pensions and bringing aboard more contract workers.
