The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) has begun the third round of its Road Shark campaign this month. The initiative, in partnership with Virginia State Police (VSP), aims to crack down on speeding and aggressive driving.
The third wave of the annual program began August 10 and runs through August 16. Officers will conduct “focused enforcement efforts in areas where speeding and aggressive driving are known concerns,” FCPD said in an earlier release.
Drivers can expect an increase in police presence looking for violations in speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, school zone violations, driving under the influence.
Previous Rounds
So far, the Road Shark campaign has issued a total of 25,311 citations and warnings, including 13,520 in April and 11,791 in June. This is an increase from the 2025 campaign, which issued 9,320 citations and warnings in April 2025 and 8,250 in June 2025.
The fourth and final round of the Road Shark Initiative is scheduled to begin in October.
