We’re only half way through the year and Northern Virginia’s real estate market has already seen some big sales. From historic properties to new builds lining the Potomac River’s Gold Coast, these are the most expensive homes sold so far in 2026.
$21.35 million: 21515 Trappe Rd., Upperville
This multi-million dollar home dates back to 1795. Located in Hunt Country, the Colonial Revival-era estate sits on more than 1,100 acres and includes a polo facility, eight tenant cottages, seven barns, and eight ponds. Inside the residence known as Llangollen — which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places — you’ll find nine bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and 12,500 square feet.

$19.8 million: 21846 Trappe Rd., Upperville
Just down the road, another Upperville estate also made waves in 2026. The picturesque Ayrshire Farm was sold by Sandy Lerner, the co-found of Cisco Systems, for nearly $20 million. The manor house includes 11 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and 571 acres. Lerner put millions of dollars into renovations of the Upperville estate after purchasing the home in 1996.

$13.5 million: 6400 Georgetown Pk., McLean
Constructed prior to the Civil War, this Langley Oaks home provides both history and beauty. The interior of the six-bedroom estate was recently reimagined with help from designer Thomas Pheasant. Inside, you’ll find dark wood accents, wood-burning fireplaces, and vaulted ceilings. Head outside to enjoy the lap pool and spa while taking in the manicured backyard.
$12.825 million: 1169 Crest Ln., McLean
The new owner of this McLean home can enjoy Potomac River views throughout the year. Located along the Gold Coast, this 2013 build features 160 feet of waterfront views on 2.32 acres, along with four bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, and a sauna.

$12.45 million: 1175 Crest Ln., McLean
This Easter Hill estate went off the market just days after its neighbor (listed above). Built in 1985, this contemporary home includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Located in McLean, this 3.8-acre property features the best of both worlds — with 270-degree views of the river and its surrounding scenery — while still being only 1 mile from DC.
$11 million: 1020 Langley Hill Dr., McLean
Inside this McLean home, you’ll find plenty of bells and whistles. The 17,135-square-foot estate not only includes seven bedrooms, seven full baths, and five half baths, but also a sleek chef’s kitchen, private sauna and steam room, state-of-the-art theater, fully equipped gym, and in-ground pool.
$9.05 million: 1011 Langley Hill Dr., McLean
Designed by landscape architect Charles Owens and constructed by Artisan Builders, this Langley Farms estate is located on a quiet cul-de-sac off Turkey Run Road. Completed in 2023, the home backs more than 500 acres of parkland, giving the property an extra sense of seclusion. The six-bedroom home also features an in-ground pool, outdoor kitchen, and other spots made for entertaining.
$9 million: 913 Whann Ave., McLean
This new build in McLean was designed by CR Custom Homes. Situated on a 1-acre plot lined with trees, the stucco and stone home intends to have seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, more than 11,000 square feet, an in-ground pool, and four-car garage.
$8.495 million: 8634 Overlook Rd., McLean
Find a custom-designed driveway, lantern-lit front portico, 22-foot foyer, and a curved floating staircase — all before you step foot into one of the main rooms of this new construction home. Built by Lavenir Custom Homes, the residence on this 1.46-acre property also includes floor-to-ceiling windows, a primary suite with a private balcony, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, fireside lounge, and pool and spa.

$7.5 million: 318 N. Quaker Ln., Alexandria
The Clarens Estate broke the record for the highest sale price in Alexandria’s history earlier this year. Built in 1803, this colonial home includes more than 7,600 square feet, nine bedrooms, and eight-and-a-half bathrooms. This property has plenty of historic stories to tell. It was previously the site of George Washington’s hunting lodge and served as a hospital during the Civil War. Throughout the home, you’ll still find original details like the hardwood floors and fireplaces.
