Cleveland Park’s Night Markets Dazzle with Local Artisans and Community-Building

If you need an excuse to go shopping — and support local businesses while you’re at it — look no further.

On the fourth Thursday of the month from April to September (weather permitting), approximately 24 artisan vendors line Main Street at Cleveland Park in Washington, DC. From 5 to 9 p.m., this outdoor market showcases a plethora of food, decor, and handcrafted items that are perfect for gift-giving or just to treat yourself.

Even more than the bustle and excitement of shopping, however, is the deep-rooted sense of community the Cleveland Park Night Markets provide.

“The Night Markets started last year when a community volunteer named Meg McGarry approached [Cleveland Park Main Street] about activating the space on a regular basis,” says Cassandra Hetherington, the Main Street director of Cleveland Park.

During spring 2024, the District Department of Transformation (DDOT) began renovating the pedestrian space in Cleveland Park. Originally a service lane, this area was transformed into the Promenade, making it ideal to host the monthly Night Markets.

“This gives the artisans a regular chance to showcase and sell their wares, and it’s a great boost for the brick-and-mortar businesses,” says Hetherington.

Cleveland Park is in the Main Street program of District Bridges, a Washington, DC, organization committed to supporting local businesses through community-based economic development. With volunteer opportunities, activities, and events available throughout the year, community members can establish connections and explore the best of local creations, just as the Night Markets encourage.

“[The Night Market] injects a liveliness into the commercial corridor and an enjoyable experience for the community,” says Hetherington.

Confirmed vendors for the upcoming market include Fahrenheit99 & Co. for luxury candles and home decor, Alejandra & Co. for hypoallergenic jewelry, Laurel and Lyre’s Flower Boyz comics, and Mother’s Fynest for homemade pies and spa products. Also check out District Bread, Anny Art Designs, Four Elements Pottery, and Jennifer Jiggetts Jewelry, among others.

The next Night Market is on Thursday, July 24. Mark your calendars and bring friends and family along to explore the different vendors. You can also visit the market on August 28 and September 25, before it returns in April 2026.
