Spend the day giving back or joining in community celebration.

By Haley Huchler April 10, 2025 at 1:00 pm

This year, April 22 marks the 55th annual recognition of Earth Day. The holiday was created to advocate for environmental protection and has remained an opportunity for communities to come together in support of the environment. Here are a few ways you can celebrate Earth Day in Northern Virginia.

Earth Day Fairfax 2025

April 26, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Join in the fun of Earth Day with games, entertainment, and activities for the whole family at Earth Day Fairfax 2025. The annual event features outdoor discovery activities and interactive nature exhibits to help both kids and adults get in touch with the environment. Plenty of food and drink will be available from food trucks and a craft beer garden. 3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly

The Reston Town Center Association has put an artistic spin on Earth Day with their art-inspired celebration. Earth Day Every Day

April 27, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

Langston Boulevard hosts an annual event in celebration of the local environment and planet. The celebration includes live music and an art market, as well as activities for kids and food trucks. A selection of environmental booths provide the opportunity to learn more about eco-friendly businesses in the Arlington area. 4500 Langston Blvd., Arlington

EcoAction Earth Day Stream Cleanup

April 22, 5–7 p.m.

If you want to spend Earth Day giving back, join in the stream cleanup at Bon Air Park. Volunteers will remove litter and trash from the stream and park. The event is family friendly, so bring the whole crew along to help make the environment a little cleaner. Bon Air Park: 850 N. Lexington St., Arlington

Earth Daze
