Reston native Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez are adding another level to their relationship. The two artists have announced they’ll be releasing a collaboration album next month.
The dynamic duo made waves when they announced their engagement back in December,
Chronicles Love Story
The pair’s first joint album, I Said I Love You First, will be available on March 21. The album announcement was posted on both Gomez’ and Blanco’s Instagram page last night. At the end of Gomez’ caption, she wrote, “We can’t wait to share this special project with you soon!”
The songs on I Said I Love You First are set to chronicle the couple’s love story.
“The album celebrates the pair’s love story, giving fans a unique window into their relationship. This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences. It chronicles their entire story — before they met, falling in love, and looking to what the future holds,” according to Gomez’ website.
The album’s lead single, “Scared of Loving You,” is already available on streaming services. The song is under two minutes long and is the last song on the 14-track album.
Surprising News
The announcement came as a surprise to fans. Gomez had mentioned just days before the album announcement that she was going to focus more on her acting career.
“I think film and art-making and being around such incredible, talented people that have done nothing but uplift me along the way… I don’t know,” Gomez said. “It’s going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this.”
Gomez was nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Jessi Del Monte in the movie Emilia Pérez. She also stars with Steve Martin and Martin Short in the popular Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.
This will be Gomez’ fifth album — her first since her release of Rare in 2020 — and Blanco’s third album release. Back in 2019, Gomez and Blano collaborated on the single “I Can’t Get Enough” with J Blavin and Tainy.
