A reggae festival and an arts festival kick off in Virginia Beach the first weekend of June, while the city also hosts Jackalope and USO Experience Virginia Beach.
New on the weekend of June 1 and 2 is the Point Break Reggae Festival with more than 20 concerts planned. The festival will be at the oceanfront. Headliners are the Grammy-nominated band Rebelution and the alternative rock band Sublime. The lineup also includes Stephen Marley, Steel Pulse, and Wiz Khalifa.
The Virginia Beach Street Art Festival starts May 30 and runs until June 2. The new festival in the ViBe Creative District features the painting of 15 sculptures by 15 artists. Each sculpture, multi-faceted shape, and neighborhood identifier will get a new life as it’s repainted live during the festival. The 1.5-mile route is designed to be easily walkable. Visitors can try painting a mural at The Garage VB, and there will be specials at neighborhood businesses.
From May 31 to June 2, Jackalope returns. The international action sports competition brings more than 500 athletes from eight countries to Virginia Beach. They’ll compete in street and vert skateboarding, bouldering, freestyle motocross, BASE jumping, and skimboarding. People can watch the action for free at the 31st Street Park and on oceanfront courses.
Many military events are planned as the USO Experience Virginia Beach takes place from May 30 to June 2. At a military village, folks can learn about each service branch, visit informational exhibits, and hear live concerts. The events take place at the 17th and 24th Street Parks at the oceanfront. For military members, activities include skydiving, paddleboarding, and horseback riding.
