Outdoor Igloos Transform NoVA Bars and Restaurants into Winter Wonderlands

Winter is almost here. That means igloos have taken over your favorite eateries and breweries.

By Michele Kettner December 18, 2023 at 10:11 am

Just because the winter chill has officially arrived in NoVA, doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying outdoor dining and happy hours. Instead, take your party inside an igloo. These trendy experiences include special menus, holiday decorations, and picture-perfect drinks. Visit these restaurants and breweries to experience these winter wonderlands.

2 Silos Brewing

The igloos are back on the Farm Brew Live campus and bigger than ever. Available through March, these three heated spaces act as a merry extension of the brewery. Inside the communal space, you’ll find Christmas trees, cozy seating, plenty of TVs, and a digital yule log to add to the aesthetic. 9925 Discovery Blvd., Manassas, no fees

Bear Chase Brewing Company

An igloo with a view awaits on the mountains of western Loudoun County. With three different sizes, each space can fit between six to 16 guests. Each igloo is decorated with lights, but there is no heat, so dress warm for a day of outdoor drinking. Reservations aren’t required. 33665 Bear Chase Ln., Bluemont, no fees

Coco B’s

The Instagrammable brunch spot just added another picture perfect feature — igloos. Its first annual Pinkmas Winter Wonderland includes festive decorations, holiday cocktails, and plenty of pink throughout its three rooms, patio, and rooftop. The communal table inside the igloo fits groups of eight to 10. Reservations are recommended. 2854 Wilson Blvd., Ste. B, Arlington, no fee to reserve

King & Rye

You know winter has officially started when the courtyard at King & Rye turns into a winter wonderland. This year, there are four different themed igloos, including Gingerbread, Jack Frost, The Polar Express, and Ski Haus. The heated space fits up to eight guests and comes with a special festive menu. Each reservation lasts 90 minutes. 480 King St., Alexandria, rental fees start at $50, food and beverage minimum starts at $150

The Garden

Outdoor dining is year-round at this Del Ray hot spot, thanks to its amazing outdoor setup. In addition to the igloos — which are decorated with holiday decorations and comfy loungers, and accommodate up to four guests — the patio is also situated with fire pits, heaters, and a heated shed to keep you nice and toasty throughout the winter months. Seating is first come, first served. 1503 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria, no fees

Watergate Hotel

DC’s most iconic hotel is getting in on the igloo trend. The Next Whisky Bar’s terrace has transformed into a picturesque winter scene full of glamorous igloos. Each private reservation can accommodate up to six guests. The food and drink menu features specialty drinks, shareable appetizers, and fondue. 2650 Virginia Ave. NW, Washington, DC. Rental fees start at $150, Food and beverage minimum starts at $250
