Two teens face charges in connection with a double homicide on Memorial Day in the Falls Church area.
Vladimir Garcia Montes, 18, of Falls Church, and a 17-year-old have been charged with robbery resulting in death.
Fairfax County police detectives believe the shooting death of one man and the stabbing death of another were part of a drug-related robbery.
“We did find a backpack was filled with narcotics,” said Fairfax County Deputy Chief Eli Cory during a news briefing Monday. A knife also was found at the scene, he said.
The police on Tuesday identified the man who had been shot as Jonas Skinner, 20, of Ashburn. He was shot in the upper body and found in a laundry room of an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Pimmit Run Lane. He died at the scene.
The stabbing victim, who was found on the complex’s parking lot Monday afternoon, has been identified as Braden Deahl, 18, of Arlington County. Deahl was pronounced dead at the hospital. According to The Washington Post, Deahl was a senior at Washington-Liberty High School and played on the soccer team.
Autopsies will be conducted in the coming days to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
Two other teens who were stabbed survived. One was treated and released. The other remains hospitalized, police said.
The police said those involved knew each other, and that the crimes at Pimmit Run Lane were not random. Officers responded to the complex around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
