The Best Dog-Friendly Trails in NoVA To Take With Your Pup This Spring

Next time you plan on hitting the trails, make sure to bring along your furry friend for a fun day outdoors.

Updated 3/23/22. Now that the region is changing seasons and the temperatures are rising, you can actually enjoy walks with your pooch once again. Instead of taking another lap around the neighborhood, grab your hiking boots for a new adventure by hitting one of these local dog-friendly trails.

Mason District Park

Take a leisurely after-work walk on the trails of this Annandale Park. Make your way around the entire park or take a loop around the pond. If your pup still has some energy after a long walk, head over to the dog park to play with some other furry friends. 6621 Columbia Pike, Annandale

Washington & Old Dominion Trail

Whether you live in Arlington, Purcellville, or anywhere in between, a hike on the W&OD Trail is just what you need. Choose your own distance on the 45-mile trail as you run, bike, or skate with your active dog.

7 Mile Loop Trail at Prince William Forest Park

Loop around the changing trees of Prince William Forest Park on a weekend hike. Open to all skill levels, the 7-mile trail also features a beautiful waterfall for a relaxing break on your trek. 18170 Park Entrance Rd., Triangle

Seneca Regional Park

Sandwiched between Algonkian Regional Park and Riverbend park is this Great Falls gem. With seven different trails to choose from, you can choose to walk along the water or can combine trails to create your own unique adventure. 101 Seneca Rd., Great Falls

Neabsco Regional Park

Take a break from the woods and head to the wetlands with your four-legged friend. As you walk through the 300-acre park, make your way down the boardwalk to take in the different birds that call the marsh home. 15125 Blackburn Rd., Woodbridge
