Fitness junkies of the region are about to have a new option for getting their workout fix come early August, courtesy of Training Ground Arlington, a shared workspace concept for personal training of all kinds.
Training Ground—offering personal training focused on weight loss and fat burn, athletic performance, strength building and more—is an affiliate of Next Phase Fitness & Strength Training, which has one location in Bethesda and a second in Arlington. According to founder Andy Schaefer, adding a Training Ground to the Ballston neighborhood was always in the cards, as both concepts go hand in hand.
“Arlington has an even more dense and fit population, and I thought this model would be received well because our training environment is so different than in a gym, which people really appreciate once they experience it,” says Schaefer. “We like to have a Training Ground nearby Next Phase to open up our personal training capacity, so this was the next logical step for our growth.”
Schaefer and his team signed a lease for the soon-to-open space in the fall of 2019, before the pandemic took local businesses and residents alike by surprise. Despite the circumstances, construction for Training Ground went on, enabling Schaefer to open the studio’s doors this summer with effective personal training in a private, safe and exclusive space.
Once the doors open in late August, experienced trainers of Training Ground will be able to offer any type of personal training and nutritional advice clients need, including pre- and post-natal fitness, senior-specific training and so much more. Plus, couple-specific or small-group training is an option too, for those who need a little extra motivational support from a workout buddy.
“All of our personal training options do not come with a contract or additional fees, as clients only pay for training and we focus on making sure our clients are happy and seeing results to keep them coming back,” says Schaefer. “Most importantly, since we are just opening, we offer the ability for a client to train privately in the studio so they can be worry-free during their workout.”
While Schaefer and his team are hoping for an early August opening, the entire staff is keeping a close eye on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and will make changes to the scheduled date if needed.
