If you’re counting down the days until the Washington Capitals can start competing for the Stanley Cup again, then we’ve got news for you. On June 25, the National Hockey League announced the 2019-2020 regular season schedule for its 31 teams. Here’s what fans of the Washington Capitals need to know about the team’s upcoming season.

The team will open their season on Oct. 2, at the Enterprise Center against the St. Louis Blues (the 2019 Stanley Cup champions), and the Caps’ home opener will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena, where they will face off against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The team will have five homestands of at least three games on the regular season schedule, the longest being a four-game stretch from Feb. 2 to 10 at Capital One Arena. Even better? Seventeen of the 41 home games scheduled at Capital One Arena fall on weekends, including six on Fridays, seven on Saturdays and four on Sundays.

Home dates include Oct. 5; Oct. 14; Oct. 18; Nov. 9; Nov. 29; Dec. 11; Dec. 31; Feb. 2, 2020; March 16, 2020; March 24, 2020; and April 2, 2020.

Television broadcast plans will be released at a later date, but fans can hear all games on the Caps Radio Network, 106.7 The Fan, Caps Radio 24/7 , washingtoncaps.com and on the Washington Caps mobile app.
