Alexandria Restaurant Week
Make reservations today for Alexandria Restaurant Week. I’d try to get into Vermilion, if you can (my review comes out in the September issue). And here are some restaurant week tips for navigating all those specials. –SG // Aug. 17-26
Another day at the fair
For the last couple of years I lived literally right across the street from the Arlington County Fair, so it was easy to just walk out my door and into the alluring scent of fried everything, the bells and whistles of carnival games and the joyous screams coming from the mini amusement park rides. I’m in Falls Church now, but most of my friends still live in Arlington, so another trip to the county fair seems to be in order. –MB // 3501 2nd St. S., Arlington
Apartment unpacking, then some art R&R
Last week, Ito Briones’ A Murder in Bruges: Cast of Characters opened at The Art League in Alexandria. I usually have a hard time getting my significant other to willingly stroll through works of art with me, but when I told him about how this murder mystery exhibit challenges you to figure out which portrait belongs to the killer, it seemed to pique his interest. We will find out this week, once I’m finished settling into my new apartment. –RK // 105 N. Union St., Alexandria
