Organizer of “Unite the Right 2” rally withdraws permit request; Tornado touches down in Fairfax County

Tuesday, Charlottesville resident and organizer of last year’s “Unite the Right” rally, Jason Kessler, withdrew his permit request for “Unite the Right 2,” though Kessler and less than 24 other people may still protest without a permit at Market Street Park.

Just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, a tornado touched down and traveled about 0.25 miles near Thomas Jefferson High School for approximately one minute in Lincolnia, Virginia. Wind speeds reportedly reached 70 mph.
