The Lee County School Board approved a plan last week that would allow its teachers to carry concealed weapons, or have their weapons stored on school property in safes. Teachers wishing to do so would have to undergo background checks, psychological evaluations and summer training, with the hopes of the plan going into effect this September. The school district is the first in the commonwealth to allow teachers to arm themselves.
