Former Fairfax shop teacher arrested, charged for inappropriate relationship with student; More toll lanes to be proposed between Baltimore and Richmond

In 2014, 40-year-old Manassas resident Timothy Threlkeld, a former shop teacher at Reston’s Langston Hughes Middle School, allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Threlkeld resigned in 2015 but was not charged and arrested until 2017. According to Fairfax County Police, this news did not break until now due to “an internal communications error.”

The Greater Washington Partnership is expected to release a position paper Wednesday morning detailing their belief that more toll lanes are needed between Baltimore and Richmond to reduce congestion, travel time and cost or transportation.

As it was selected as one of the 50 libraries across the country to be given “The Great American Read” grant, Reston Regional Library will premiere an eight episode Great American Read show in which 100 beloved novels will be presented. Viewers will pick their favorite upon the show’s conclusion in October. A premiere party will be held on May 22, followed by separate additional episode screenings, author talks and writing workshops.

During last week’s Crystal City gas station stabbing over a towing dispute, an FBI agent that happened to be at the Exxon intervened upon seeing Norman Mitchell Brawner, Jr. of Arlington stab a tow truck driver that is believed to have been working for Advanced Towing. The tow truck driver sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
