“It’s funny how those memories they last / Like strawberry wine … “
When I was a little girl, I used to sing Deana Carter’s “Strawberry Wine” while running errands with my mom, grandmom and sometimes great-grandmother. Since then, every time I hear it, I’m reminded of my grandmom, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer a few years ago. I haven’t come across many places that sell strawberry wine specifically (email me local sellers you know of: [email protected]), so you can imagine my excitement upon finding a strawberry wine paint night at Wegmeyer Farms. Their newly-released strawberry wine can be purchased by the glass for $7 or by the bottle for $22, and every Thursday in May they are hosting a $35 strawberry-themed paint night. I’ll be painting strawberries in a basket at the May 17 event, but the subject on May 24 and 31 will be strawberries in a field. –RK // Wegmeyer Farms: 38299 Hughesville Road, Hamilton

Soothing tunes to start off the summer
Slow down. That is my goal this summer. And the way I always begin any new routine is by putting together a playlist for it. This weekend The Carlyle Club is paying tribute to some crooners who will definitely headline my summer playlist: Ray Charles, Sam Cook and Otis Redding. And what better way to get the summer started than with a concert. DMV singer Bryan Fox will be bringing the sounds to the stage. –LN // The Carlyle Club: 2050 Ballenger Ave., Alexandria

Taking a bite out of Arlington
There are so many options for places to eat in Arlington that I haven’t even come close to trying them all yet; it would also be quite the expensive venture if I were to try. Instead I think I’ll go with the crash course method with this year’s Taste of Arlington. It may be a challenge to sample all 58 of the local restaurants and food trucks that will be present, but I’m certainly going to give it a go. –MB // N. Randolph St. to N. Lincoln St., Arlington
