Twilight Hilltop Tour
May 11, 7:30-8 p.m.
After taking in sunset-bathed views of Huntley Meadows Park and the Hybla Valley from Historic Huntley, sip on provided refreshments and learn about the history of the house in an exclusive after-hours tour. // Historic Huntley: 6918 Harrison Lane, Alexandria

2018 Neighborhood Day
May 12
All of Arlington will be buzzing on Saturday as events pop up throughout the day to celebrate its annual Neighborhood Day. Starting at 9 a.m. and going until 9:30 p.m., Arlingtonians will have the chance to partake in events like Civil War Camp Day, the 31st Argentine Festival, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s Walk for the Animals, trail mapping and the Turtle Trot 5K Race. Some events require registration or tickets. // Arlington

World Migratory Bird Day Festival
May 12, 9-11 a.m.
The first 50 families to arrive at this educational event will receive a pair of binoculars from which they can try to spot hummingbirds and other airborne creatures making their way back from South America. Participate in activities and games, make crafts and enjoy coffee at this family-friendly festival. // Lacey Woods Park: 1200 N. George Mason Drive, Arlington

Annual Turtle Trot 5K Race
May 12, 9-11 a.m.
For those that have been working to become competitive runners, this race is chip-timed and held on a certified 5K course. Kids 12 and under can participate for $15, while adult registration costs $30. // Bluemont Park: 601 N. Manchester St., Arlington

Build Your Own Butterfly Garden
May 12, 10 a.m.
For $7, after touring the park’s butterfly garden, walk away with seeds so that you can create your own at home. // Ellanor C. Lawrence Park: 5040 Walney Road, Chantilly

Spring Farm Day
May 12, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Milk a cow or a goat, make crafts, play games and say hello to the farm’s baby animals for $8 at the door or $7 if you register in advance. There will also be sheep shearing and antique equipment demonstrations, plus fair food and opportunities to ride the carousel or on a wagon. // Frying Pan Farm Park: 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon

Civil War Day Camp
May 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
At this Neighborhood Day component, attendees will be able to try on Civil War uniforms, take in a live reenactment and check out informative military encampment displays. // Walter Reed Community Center: 2909 16th St. S., Arlington

Poetry and Tea, Honoring Our Mothers through Poetry
May 12, 2:30-4 p.m.
There is nothing like giving a gift that comes from the heart, and at this event, you can do so by reading a poem to your mother over afternoon tea. // Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center: 1605 Cameron St., Alexandria

Mother’s Day Brunch at Laurel Hill Golf Club
May 13, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Omelets, vanilla French toast, pancakes, jumbo lump crab and a waffle station are only a few of the brunch offerings you will find at brunch buffet, $22 for adults, $11 for children 4-12 and free for kids under 3.  Registrations is required by May 10, but walk-ins will be accepted if there is space available. // Laurel Hill Golf Club: 8701 Laurel Crest Drive, Lorton

Mother’s Day Tea
May 13, 1 p.m.

Oak Grove Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
May 16, 7 p.m.
See what the new and improved Oak Grove Park Playground has to offer following updates made to its tot lot, playground, picnic shelter and more. The ribbon cutting ceremony will further detail other changes. // Oak Grove Park: 4012 17th St. N., Arlington

Family Splash Night
May 18, 6-9 p.m.
Little ones can play aqua basketball, swim, and try to make their way through a floating obstacle course at this fun-filled family event, which also offers safety tips, swimming skills assessments and light refreshments. // Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility: 3210 King St., Alexandria

Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour
May 18-20
Taste wines from all over Virginia at this three-day event which stars a different live music performer each day. You cannot bring food in, however Mount Vernon Inn will offer concessions for purchase or attendees can order fruit and cheese boxes ahead of time. // George Washington’s Mount Vernon: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon

Spring Garden Day—The Big Plant Sale
May 19, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
At this annual event, over 40 vendors will bring an assortment of interesting plants for you to purchase and also offer their gardening words of wisdom. Friends of Green Spring will receive 10 percent off Garden Gate Plant Shop offerings. // Green Spring Gardens: 4603 Green Spring Road, Alexandria

Tea is Served
May 20, 2-4 p.m.
