We’re still months away from seeing the finished Ballston Quarter, Arlington’s new shopping and dining venue replacing the old Ballston Common Mall, but we now know a handful of the shops that will be available to patrons when doors do open.
Real estate company Forest City has announced the first batch of retailers it has signed to take up some of the 360,000 square feet of retail space, many of which will be familiar to area residents.
Local retailers making the move to Ballston Quarter include Steadfast Supply, Gossip and Potomac River Running. Steadfast Supply, a D.C.-based creative retail shop and curated events hub located at The Yards, will open its second location in a 1,026-square-foot Ballston Quarter shop. Gossip, a women’s fashion boutique, and Potomac River Running, a running specialty store, are both relocating: Gossip’s original Crystal City storefront will move into a new 761-square-foot space within Ballston Quarter, while Potomac River Running will uproot itself from Ballston to call a 1,431-square-foot space home.
A pair of nationally known stores are also on the way: Scout and Molly’s Boutique plus Francesca’s clothing and jewelry store.
These stores join previously announced offerings that include Punch Bowl Social, Cookology and Regal Cinemas. The space’s Quarter Market food hall has also previously revealed some of its soon-to-be residents: Timber Pizza Co., Cucina Al Volo and Ice Cream Jubilee.
In addition to the 360,000 square feet of retail space and the 18-concept, 25,000-square-foot food hall, Forest City says there will also be a 22-story, 406-unit residential building and office space totalling 176,000 square feet.
Will Voegele, Forest City’s senior vice president of development, says that Ballston Quarter will be “the pinnacle of what modern shopping developments will become as the future of retail takes form,” in the company’s official press release.
Ballston Quarter is expected to open in fall 2018.
