Seclusion practices used with Loudoun County special needs students; Reagan National Airport construction to cause lane closures next week

Incidents in which students with special needs were placed in isolation rooms/areas in Belmont Ridge Middle School and Frederick Douglass Elementary School have surfaced.

Monday, Feb. 19, construction will begin overnight at Reagan National Airport to build the foundation for additional security checkpoints, causing lane closures near terminal B/C.

A 42-year-old Ashburn woman has been accused of conducting a loan scheme that allowed her to obtain over $5 million, which she used to fund shopping expenses and luxurious trips to Brazil, the Czech Republic, Tahiti and Thailand.

Reston elementary schools are known to give food to students in need so that they have something to eat over the weekend, but Reston middle schools typically do not. Through a partnership with two non-profits, Langston Hughes Middle School has begun gathering and distributing food to students in need this year. There are currently 20 students benefiting from the program.

A woman from Stephens City, Virginia has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the November death of a 15-year-old patient at Leesburg’s North Spring Behavioral Healthcare center. A mental health technician from West Virginia was also charged.
