House rejects bills preventing anti-LGBT housing and work discrimination; Springfield man may have intentionally thrown self under OmniRide bus

Thursday, the Virginia House rejected four bills that hoped to prevent LGBT individuals from being discriminated against when it comes to finding housing and employment.

Wednesday, a Springfield man was stuck and killed by an OmniRide bus in front of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The bus driver said that the man yelled something before taking a “superman dive” under the in-motion bus, leading people to believe that the man threw himself under the bus intentionally.

Early Friday morning, in the 5500 block of Springfield’s Heming Ave., firefighters had difficulty putting out a house fire as chilly temperatures caused hoses to begin to freeze. The fire was put out in approximately ten minutes and the tenant of the home was able to escape.
