Early Sunday morning around 4 a.m., a 21-year-old Herndon man barricaded himself inside a home in the 13200 block of Ladybank Lane, threatening to kill his family members. No one was shot, and the man, Anthony Moaf, surrendered at 2:16 p.m. Moaf’s mother told ABC7 News that her son never threatened the family and that Moaf called the police himself. Moaf was arrested and while being transported to a psychiatric facility for an evaluation, became ill and had to be taken to the emergency room.

More than 70 cremated remains have been dropped off/scattered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial over the years, but as veterans continue to get older, the National Park Service is trying to come up with a way to address the act. At the end of 2017, signs were placed asking that remains and other objects not be left. Currently, remains are stored in the Park Service’s Museum Resource Center.

17-year-old Rachel Brown, a senior at Middleburg’s Foxcroft School, is one of the nation’s youngest internationally accredited doulas. Brown, who wants to become an obstetrician, will be attending Colgate University to study biology on the pre-medical track.
