Reston named one of the ‘best places to live;’ Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar sentenced to between 40-175 years

Money magazine has named Reston one of the country’s best places to live based on job, living standards and education data.

Larry Nassar, the gymnastics doctor that has been accused of sexually abusing more than 150 women and girls, was sentenced to 40-175 years in prison on Wednesday by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina, who told Nassar “I just signed your death warrant.” Nassar must attend another sentencing in Easton County, Michigan next week.

The parents of 5-month-old Tristan Shulz, the little boy who was killed when an SUV driver struck him and his mother while they were crossing a street in Landsdowne, appeared in court on Wednesday. Mom Mindy Shulz will speak again on Thursday morning before the driver, John Miller, receives his sentence.

The Loudoun County School Board has approved a plan which will allow 92 percent of students (up from the present 89 percent of students) to take advantage of full-day kindergarten. The phase-in process will not include Creighton’s Corner, Hillside, Mill Run and Lucketts Elementary schools.
