Alexandria’s George Washington Middle School remains closed on Wednesday as crews continue to repair a burst pipe in the electrical room. Parents told ABC7 News that leading up to the pipe breaking, children were wearing hats and gloves indoors because it was so chilly in their classrooms. A spokesperson for the school also shared that temperatures in some rooms only hit the mid-50s.

Tuesday, a vehicle crashed into the Trader Joe’s at 11958 Killingsworth Avenue in Reston. No one was injured, and though the extent of the damage has not yet been determined, the store is expected to open under normal business hours on Wednesday.

Tuesday, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors passed a resolution that they will present to state lawmakers when working with incoming Governor-elect Ralph Northam to discuss how the state will fund Metro. Gov. Terry McAuliffe proposed that $150 million be dedicated to the transportation service each year, but Prince William supervisors do not agree with how significantly said funding would affect Northern Virginia counties.
