Wednesday, a recount court rejected Democrat Shelly Simonds‘ request that the controversial ballot being counted in Republican David Yancey’s favor be thrown out. As a result, the winner of the 94th District race will be chosen by having their name drawn from a local artist’s stoneware bowl on Thursday.

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Manassas-based company that was purchased by Boeing this past November, has been given a $48 million contract from the U.S. Air Force so that they can make more progress on its Orion Unmanned Aircraft System, an aircraft that can travel for over 100 hours and carry over 1,000 pounds.

Changes have been made to the proposal that originally aimed to require all caregivers “at day cares where parents are eligible for state and federal subsidies” be fluent enough to comprehend regulations and converse with parents, children, emergency personnel and other officials. Now, the proposal would require that caregivers “communicate effectively” while speaking and writing and be able to converse with emergency personnel.

Members of the public will be allowed to talk for only two to three minutes at Loudoun County Board of Supervisors business meetings. In total, the public may speak for 30 minutes. This recent regulation was brought about in the hopes of cutting back on late-night voting.
