For four days and four nights, the breeze off the Blue Ridge Mountains will carry the tunes of great artists from Phil Lesh, Gov’t Mule with Ann Wilson of Heart, Widespread Panic, John Fogerty, The Avett Brothers and 34 more as they take the stage for the fifth Lockn’ Festival Aug. 24-27 at Infinity Downs Farm. This year, the nonstop performances also include Garcia’s Forest, a space for Deadheads to relax and take in more music. The space has expanded since years past and can now hold two stages and more than 20,000 people.

The Allure

CID Entertainment has partnered with the festival and offers packages including a VIP option for private entrance; private campgrounds; air-conditioned bathrooms with showers; VIP lounge; catered welcome barbecue and Sunday brunch; private cash bars; complimentary late-night munchies, water and soft drinks; VIP viewing area; and Lockn’ coffee table book. ($899)

If glamping is the way you want to go, Lockn’ has options ranging from the standard expectations to concierge services: two-person VIP queen bed ($1,319) and twin bed ($1,369) glamping tents or two-person super VIP (mini fridge, bath products, yard games, furniture, snacks and coffee, plus light breakfast Friday and Saturday and daily personal shopping service) queen bed ($1,419) and twin bed ($1,519) glamping tents.

Don’t let the stereotypes of a weekendlong music festival fool you: Lockn’ is a family-friendly place and has a space set aside just for that. The family camping area ($169) allows for one car for a camping spot at Oak Ridge Farm. There is also a sober camping spot ($169), giving those who want to partake sans alcohol a place to hang out with others who are going alcohol-free.

The Lockn’ Festival does provide ample space for those who want to camp out under the stars and never have to step foot off the farm, but local lodging opportunities give room for rest in a comfy bed plus transportation to and from the festivities: Wintergreen Resort, Blue Haven 151 Farm and B&B, Charlottesville and Lynchburg Holiday Inns and Hampton Inns, Hyatt Place and Country Inn and Suites.
