New Hope is a hamlet you may not want to leave once you stroll the streets.

Sitting alongside the Delaware River, this town has all the offerings of a big city—dining, theater, art, boutique shopping and a burgeoning nightlife scene—but in a small-town setting. Named by Travel and Leisure as one of America’s favorite towns, New Hope is a hamlet you may not want to leave once you stroll the streets.

The Allure

You don’t have to have one night of fireworks this summer. Every Friday night throughout the season, fireworks are set off over the Delaware River. See them as you stroll through the 19th-century buildings that hold today’s boutiques. Watch them while dining alfresco or at the popular Havana Restaurant & Bar.

Nature’s restorative powers abound that the 134-acre Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, where you can stroll 2.5 miles of paths and take in approximately 2,000 species of native plants.

Don’t let the location of Bucks County Playhouse fool you; just because it is set in a 1790 gristmill doesn’t mean the productions aren’t high-caliber. Among those who have graced the stage are Helen Hayes, Grace Kelly, Robert Redford, Walter Matthau, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters and Liza Minnelli. The playhouse is known as an incubator for Broadway.

Romance in the country at an English estate is what you will find at The Inn at Bowman’s Hill, an AAA Four-Diamond property. Ponds and forests surround the inn on the 5-acre property that offers all the trappings of a luxurious escape.
