While Friday represents the home opener for the Washington Nationals, it’s not the only opener this weekend. Northern Virginia is alive with the works of art this weekend, whether it be gallery openings, silent auctions, art camp previews or an arts and crafts show, there is a little something for everyone.

REVOLUTION:

The Del Ray Artisans unleash their latest exhibit this Friday, Revolution. Revolution is an all-media show that examines how artists can use technology to achieve a whole new medium. The world trudges unceasingly forward, and artists must keep up, or be left behind. Curators Connie Saunders and Ann Krug encouraged artists to keep up with the technological revolution in multi-dementional pieces. While the exhibit will be available until April 27, Friday will be the only night to talk with the artists.

Art Camp Open House

If the idea of an art camp sounds a bit dodgy, Workhouse Arts  is opening their doors for a free preview of its Youth Art Camp. Along with demonstrations, there will be question-and-answer sessions from staff members. If this wasn’t enough, there will also be activities for children to participate in, such as painting, drawing and video game design. Workhouse Arts has also made several new additions to its year-round programs.

24th Annual Art & Silent Auction

Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART), first established itself as a no-kill animal rescue for abused and unwanted dogs and cats in 1990. Every year, Hart hosts an Art & Silent Auction, and the money raised from the art goes to support abandoned pets. This year, Marlin Art will provide the art.

Fredericksburg’s Premier Arts & Craft Show

This will be the eighth year Fredericksburg hosts its springtime arts and crafts fair. While fine art might be absent from the fair, the show offers a variety of handmade pieces. For two days, and more than 140 different booths, it’s likely that crafts and pieces will catch many a beholders’ eye.
