The 150th Kentucky Derby kicks off on Saturday, May 4, in Louisville, Kentucky. That’s a long way from Northern Virginia, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have the Derby Day experience. At these watch parties and derby events, you can sip mint juleps, don your fanciest hat, and watch the race — without spending money on airfare.
Bourn ‘n Derb at Aslin Beer Co.
May 4, 2–8 p.m.
At all of Aslin’s locations, guests to this derby day celebration can try their hand at horse racing — toy horse racing, that is. There will be races for kids and adults, plus a fancy hat contest, bourbon flights, and cocktail specials. Multiple locations
Derby Day at Wren
May 4, 4 p.m.
For an event that rises to the occasion, head to Wren. Tickets to the shindig include derby-inspired stationery, passes hors d’oeuvres, three drinks, and live music — plus TVs to see the race, of course. Kentucky Derby Viewing Party at Casanel Vineyards & Winery
May 4, 4:30–7 p.m.
If you favor wine over bourbon, Casanel in Leesburg is the place to be on Derby Day. Wear your best fascinator and relax to watch the race. Derby Day at King & Rye
May 4, 5–8 p.m.

Derby de Mayo at Banditos Tacos & Tequila
May 4
