A person’s rate of recovery after a stroke can be determined more accurately by exercise levels than weight, according to a recent study conducted by Pamela Rist, an associate epidemiologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The study found that regularly exercising survivors were likely to be more independent than those who did not exercise regularly. It also suggested that being physically active before a stroke is likely to improve the survivor’s abilities to do physically demanding activities during recovery.
