Healthy grocery store snacks to munch and crunch on

To eat or not to eat, isn’t that always the question? Nutritionist Deborah Jeffery gives tips about what to buy for healthy snack options.

By Editorial August 22, 2018 at 8:28 am

Kind Fruit Bites, $5.49; Vitacost
It's hard to keep a piece of fruit fresh when you carry it around all day. Jeffery says we should be eating a diet made of whole foods, like fruits without added sugar.
Bare Baked Banana Chip in Cocoa (six pack), $22.79; Amazon
Trader Joe’s Freeze Dried Raspberries, $8.97; Amazon
Wild Planet Non-GMO Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon, $5.29; Thrive Market
Jeffery suggests that snack foods have at least 5 grams of protein per serving to give you all the macro nutrients needed. Canned salmon, specifically wild caught salmon, is an easy way to eat your protein on the go.
Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas in Bombay Spice, $3.48; Walmart
Caveman Primal Bar-Hickory Smoked Chicken Bacon (12 pack), $29.99; Caveman
With 14 grams of protein, stroll past the beef jerky and reach for this healthier alternative.
Trader Joe’s Crispy Crunchy Broccoli Florets, $8.60; Amazon
Keep your hand out of the pretzel jar and snack on a veggie to satisfy your crunchy craving.
Trader Joe’s Just Beets, $8.88; Amazon
"Eat the rainbow", according to Jeffery, and eat foods that are a variety of colors that pack a lot of nutritional value in every bite.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts, $15.99; Thrive Market
Seeds and nuts are packed with omega fatty acids, which Jeffery advocates for in a well balanced diet. Hemp seeds are a trendy snacks that packs alot of nutritional value into a small seed.
Woodstock Organic Walnut Halves, $6.99; Thrive Market
Wallaby Organic Greek Yogurt (12 pack), $34.05; Foodservicedirect.com
Aside from fruits and vegetables, Jeffery believes that yogurt makes a great snack because of its high protein and antioxidant amount.
RXBAR Multipack (10 pack), $16.99; Target
