Favorite place to celebrate: We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Restaurant Eve a few years ago, and it was wonderful. Chef Cathal Armstrong and his team make sure you are fed well and feel good, so I’d go there for any occasion big or small.
Favorite place to connect with nature: It’s tough to beat the breathtaking views and hiking trails at Great Falls.
Favorite place tourists don’t know about: Shilla Bakery in Annandale offers delicious treats that satisfy my sweet tooth. My favorite is the green tea bingsu, which is a Korean shaved ice dessert.
Favorite place for a day of fun: Mount Vernon is great place to visit with your whole family. We know a lot about George Washington already, but you will learn even more about our country and get to see the place that brought inspiration to our first president.
Favorite place for a night out on the town: A fun night out on the town for me would include a delicious meal. I would start at Kogiya in Annandale for Korean barbecue, which is such a fun dining experience. Then I’d go to Lighthouse Tofu for spicy soup and end up at Shilla for a refreshing treat.
Favorite place for a day of shopping: Old Town Alexandria is home to so many unique boutiques and local businesses. You can shop for clothing, home goods, beauty products and specialty foods, all while walking along the charming streets of Old Town.
