You no longer have to wait for perfect conditions to go surfing in Virginia Beach. The city’s new premier surf destination and beach club, Atlantic Surf Park, is officially opening. The man-made lagoon is part of a nearly $350 million project that includes Virginia Beach native Pharrell Williams as an investor.

Located just two blocks from the oceanfront, the year-round surf park is the first Wavegarden Cove in the United States. It serves up 1,000 perfect waves per hour. Each surf session is 55 minutes, giving riders an average of 10 to 15 waves per session. At 116,000 square feet, Atlantic Surf Park can accommodate 20 to 40 surfers per session.
Each ride is also captured on camera and riders are able to track their progress, get coaching insight, and share their sessions on social media.
Surfers can hit the waves by either joining a public surf session or booking a group or private training lesson. Surf sessions range from $104 to $161 depending on the wave level — ranging from beginner to professions — and season. Training sessions are available for every level, with group lessons geared toward children ages 8 to 12 and adults ages 13 and older.
The venue also offers a $25 beach pass for non-surfers to enjoy the action on the expansive beach area and access to the heated wading pool. Additional luxury accommodations can be booked including on-site lodging, lagoon-side daybeds, and cabana rentals. The park will be adding on-site restaurants and an airstream later this fall.
The mixed-use entertainment complex also includes a live entertainment venue, office spaces, residences, shopping, and dining.
