Spend a Relaxing Fall Weekend at a West Virginia Airbnb 

See the fall colors change while enjoying nature just a few hours away.

As temperatures begin dropping, leaves start falling, and days shorten, there’s arguably no better time than autumn to take a trip to nearby West Virginia. From caverns and camping to natural springs and spas, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy, especially as fall foliage approaches. Here are some interesting West Virginia Airbnbs you may want to consider.

Cabin Getaway  

Drive time from Dulles: 1 hour, 45 minutes  

Located about 15 minutes from downtown Berkeley Springs, this picturesque log cabin sleeps four and boasts an electric fireplace, spacious front deck, outdoor fire pit, and hot tub. Can’t leave your furry friends behind? No worries, as this cabin is pet friendly. For any children (or children at heart), there’s a retro arcade machine. The property is near Cacapon State Park, perfect for those wanting to explore, hike, fish, or simply relax while listening to the nearby creek. Great Cacapon, West Virginia

Drive time from Dulles: 4 hours, 30 minutes 

For those who want to be one with nature — but also appreciate air conditioning and a real bed — this is the West Virginia Airbnb for you. This bell-tent glamping site is set up on a large deck and is over 100 feet away from other campers. For your ultimate comfort, there is a mini fridge, coffee cart, power to charge devices, and fire pit. Shared amenities on this 16-acre property include a gas grill, picnic tables, basic cooking supplies, and restrooms with showers, toilets, and sinks. You don’t have to go far to enjoy the outdoors; several nature trails and a creek are on the property. Scarbro, West Virginia

Drive time from Dulles: 1 hour, 25 minutes 

This spacious, A-frame cabin with three bedrooms is great for a family or group trip. Floor-to-ceiling windows immerse you in the woods, and there’s a hot tub, fire pit, and screened in porch to offer more opportunities to enjoy nature from the comfort of your home. As a part of a community, guests can pay to access amenities including an indoor pool, pickleball/tennis courts, gym, a club house, and golf courses. There’s a community spa just a walk away, and plenty of hiking trails in the Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management area about 35 minutes away. Hedgesville, West Virginia

Drive time from Dulles: 2 hours, 50 minutes 

This carriage house dates back to somewhere between 1900 and 1935, It was fully restored in 2020. While it now features modern kitchen and bathroom amenities, the space still incorporates vintage items that pay tribute to the property’s history and original character. The loft space can house up to four guests, and includes a washer/dryer, office desk, and reading nook. Note that the downstairs space is restricted and under construction. The house is surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest and just minutes away from hiking trails and the Allegheny Highlands Rail Trail. Hendricks, West Virginia

Childhood dreams can come true. This two-bedroom treehouse (complete with slide) has an outdoor deck, perfect for enjoying the views and birdwatching. Guests are able to access the entire farm/garden grounds of the 100-acre property, including a waterfall, fishing pond, and plenty of wooded trails. While there is a heater and an electric blanket, you may want to bring some blankets since this is camping experience. There is a dedicated bathhouse and grill/fire pit area, perfect for making s’mores, plus hammock swings for lounging. Walton, West Virginia

Ever wonder what it’s like to live on a houseboat? This is the perfect opportunity to give it a try. Docked on the Ohio River, this cozy boat is perfect for those who love fishing or just being on or near the water. It’s close to the Moundsville Walking Trail, making it great for exploring the area. There is a shared grilling space, plus a refrigerator, freezer, and ice machine. The boat is ideal for two guests and does have a bathroom. Moundsville, West Virginia

This retired school bus has been transformed into a distinct rental, reminiscent of an Airstream but with childhood nostalgia mixed in. Located near New River Gorge National Park, the bus faces scenic rolling hills and you’re bound to see plenty of wildlife through the many windows. The bus sleeps four guests and offers a kitchen, workspace, indoor fireplace, and air conditioning. There’s also a separate, covered outdoor dining/lounge area with a grill and fire pit. Summers County

Drive time from Dulles: 4 hours, 30 minutes  

For larger gatherings, this spacious four-bedroom cabin (which sleeps up to 14 guests) is the perfect West Virginia Airbnb getaway. It is secluded on a five-acre property, but it’s just minutes away from the New River Gorge, Summersville Lake, Gauly River, and more, making it easy to get out and take in nature. An outdoor screened-in dining area is great for relaxing with family and friends, plus there’s a grill, fire pit, hot tub, and garage space for two cars. There are also lawn games and ping-pong tables for guests.  Mount Lookout
