The District is about to be home to another modern, luxury lifestyle hotel. Yet this time a well-known space is being transformed from one getaway hub to another, as Viceroy Hotels & Resorts will be re-branding former Kimpton-managed Mason & Rook Hotel.
The site, located in the Logan Circle neighborhood just about a block away from restaurant-filled 14th Street, will be titled Viceroy Washington, DC, branding itself as “the real District,” according to its website. The opening will mark the second resort in Viceroy’s Lifestyle Series, a collection of hotels with a progressive and spirited vibe located in commonly visited destinations.
Within the interior of the space, guests will find two restaurant and bar spaces, a glass-enclosed patio, a full-service coffee bar, a seasonal rooftop pool, a ballroom and an art gallery featuring rotating selections of work made by local artists. Plus, the color palette is classic and inviting, with deep green hues and jewel tones throughout, translating into the 178 guest rooms too.
The hotel’s $8 million redesign, which aims to pay homage to the neighborhood’s jazz heritage with DC-specific elements, is led by California-born EDG Interior Architecture + Design firm.
This property is not the only concept set to open by Viceroy Hotels & Resorts in the coming months, as Hotel Zena—a getaway dedicated to all things women—is in the final phases of construction with an expected spring opening. While the construction process is still underway for Viceroy Washington DC, guests are welcome to make reservations with Mason & Rook through this summer. // Viceroy Washington DC: 1430 Rhode Island Ave. NW, Washington, DC
