Festival of Crafts and Kites
Aug. 20, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
If a day filled with flying kites, shopping the booths of local artisans, and chowing down on some great food sounds like a good time to you, try Leesburg’s Festival of Crafts and Kites. Flying Circus Hot Air Balloon Festival

Fairfax Comic Con
Aug. 27, 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
With special guests John “Dak” Morton (who played Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back) and Carey Jones (who played Krrsantan in The Book of Boba Fett), this is one event Star Wars fans won’t want to miss out on. There’s no better time to channel your inner superhero than at this event with dozens of vendors and exhibitors in Artist Alley and a cosplay contest. DogFest Washington DC
Sept. 24, 11 a.m.—3 p.m.
They say a dog is a man’s (or woman’s) best friend and this special festival was created to celebrate that special bond. With a fitness challenge, fundraising opportunities to support Canine Champions, and local vendors, it’s bound to be a great time for you and your pooch. Occoquan Fall Arts & Crafts Show
Sept. 24–25, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
The charming riverfront town of Occoquan knows how to draw a crowd. Save the date and plan to take a stroll through the historic district as you shop local vendors, try yummy street food, and listen to some live music. And don’t forget to check out the beer garden. Occoquan Historic District
Art on the Avenue

Fall for the Book Festival
Oct. 12–15
After two years of being virtual, this book-lover’s paradise will be back in person this fall. Book readings, exhibitions, discussions, and performances will take place over four days. Capital Art and Craft Festival

Shenandoah Fall Foliage Bike Festival
Oct. 14–16
More that 750 riders from the mid-Atlantic and beyond arrive for this weekend of cycling. If you’re a beginner, don’t fret; plenty of rest stops are included in the schedule. See some of the most scenic parts of the NoVA countryside and enjoy a delicious lunch on Saturday and brunch on Sunday. Starting in Staunton

This two-day event couples home improvement and craft vendors in one place. UCP Fall Art & Craft Fair
