When I lived in Texas, I was annually inundated with pictures of friends and acquaintances posed with bluebells. The flowers are pretty, but I never made it out to one of the fields where they bloom bountifully. I thought my chance was over, but this article informed me that we’ve got our own bluebells in NoVA. This year, I’m primed for a selfie! –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Sweet Stuff
I was a French major and have been lucky enough to spend a fair amount of time in Paris and beyond, but I’ve never even heard of one of Alice’s recent dessert picks: ile flottante, aka floating island, a meringue-centric confection that I absolutely must try. La Cote d’or Café, here I come. –Kelly Kendall, editor
Planet Power
As another year goes by, it is time to celebrate Mother Earth. While I always try to be environmentally friendly when it comes my day-to-day decisions, like using reusable containers and visiting the farmer’s market as much as possible, Earth Day is a time to go all out. This weekend I’m going to visit Sunset Hill Vineyard for its festivities. The vineyard is also solar-powered, so it’s a win-win for me. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
