The event will feature artists from across the region, simultaneously creating new murals that showcase their talents and celebrate Lorton’s artistic history.

Artists are leaving their colorful and photo-worthy marks all over NoVA, from Ballston Quarter to the Mosaic District, and it may seem as if more local murals are popping up overnight.

To celebrate the overflowing talent of artists and their influence on the region’s walls, Workhouse Arts Center is hosting its inaugural Workhouse Mural Project and Festival on Aug. 3.

From 3 to 9 p.m., visitors will be able to watch skilled muralists cover 3D cubes with their painting style and colorful finesse, alongside food trucks, local vendors and live musicians. The event is the first of its kind in the area and hopes to bring the community together to see local art in an entirely new way.

Regional artists include Kyle Harrell (better known as Hmbl), Ira Bell (aka Wiink) and Marly McFly. Each featured artist has created contemporary murals, larger-than-life portraits or recognizable pieces to national and international audiences. The featured art for the event is curated by Ackshun Jackson.

To learn more about the artists and the creation of their newest pieces, visit workhousearts.org. Tickets can be purchased here. // Workhouse Arts Center: 9518 Workhouse Road, Lorton; $20
