Italian food lovers are losing a fan favorite in Fairfax this weekend. Alta Strada announced it will permanent close its Mosaic District location on Saturday, July 25.
The restaurant, which was created by James Beard Award winning chef Michael Schlow, expanded to Northern Virginia in 2017. The eatery will continue operating its locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
“While this isn’t the ending we had hoped for, the reality is that the increase in rent made it impossible for us to continue,” said the restaurant in an Instagram post. “Even so, we are deeply grateful for the last 10 years and for the amazing community that made Alta Strada feel like home.”
Over the last nearly 10 years, Alta Strada had become a go-to spot for classic Italian cuisine in Mosaic. Its menu includes antipasti favorites, wine by the glass, and pasta options. Its most popular dish is penne alla vodka.
The restaurant will be open daily until it closes on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday. 2911 District Ave., Ste. 150, Fairfax
