Celebrate Independence Day by watching fireworks and partaking in a number of activities at these area events.

Alexandria

4th of July Fireworks Cruise
July 4, 8-10 p.m.
Climb aboard the Miss Mallory to get a spectacular front seat to Independence Day fireworks. While you’re there, enjoy concessions available for purchase and the scenic seascape of the Potomac River. // Potomac Riverboat Company: 1 Cameron St., Alexandria

USA/Alexandria Birthday Celebration
July 7, 6-10 p.m.
While the U.S. may be turning 241 this year, the city of Alexandria is even older at the ripe age of 269 years. Attend this joint birthday celebration complete with good food, dazzling fireworks and a patriotic performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. // Oronoco Bay Park: 100 Madison St., Alexandria

Arlington

4th of July Parade
July 4, 9:15 a.m.
The parade route will begin at the intersection of Roberts Lane and Oxford Street, and end at the Kenmore cul-de-sac where prizes and refreshments will be waiting. Kids are encouraged to decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons and strollers with patriotic colors to get in the spirit. // Various locations around Bellevue Forest, Arlington

July 4th Parade and Picnic
July 4, 11 a.m.
Line up on 17th Street to watch the antique cars, police and fire vehicles and more parade down the street. Afterwards enjoy a picnic in Lyon Village Park, where you can pack your own or purchase food from vendors. // Various locations around Lyon Village, Arlington

Fairfax

Independence Fireworks
June 29-30, 6-9:45 p.m.
Get a head start on Independence Day celebrations at Mount Vernon. Enjoy a brilliant fireworks display choreographed to patriotic music in the company of our nation’s first president. // George Washington’s Mount Vernon: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon

Independence Day Fireworks at the Workhouse Arts Center
June 30, 5-10 p.m.
This spectacular fireworks show will be enhanced by live music, food trucks, local beer and wine and the surrounding art scene. // Workhouse Arts Center: 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton

Great Falls 4th of July Hometown Celebration—Parade and Fireworks
July 4, 8 a.m.
Great Falls will be holding an all-day extravaganza complete with a 5K walk/run, a parade and a fireworks tailgate event at Turner Farm Park that begins at 6 p.m. The parade route begins on Columbine Road and weaves around the Village Centre. // Great Falls Village Centre: 776 Walker Road, Great Falls

An American Celebration
July 4, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
This day-long celebration of the nation’s birthday will include made-for-daytime fireworks, military reenactments and birthday cake. City of Fairfax 4th of July Independence Day Celebration
July 4, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
Dating back to 1967, this historic parade has delighted audiences young and old. This year’s parade will feature live music, vintage vehicles, favorite characters and floats galore. // Old Town Fairfax: 10455 Armstrong St., Fairfax

July 4th in Paradise—Red, White, and Rose
July 4, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Trade the Fourth of July lager for fine wine, music and food truck fare. The winery will be open normal hours for the holiday. // Paradise Springs Winery: 13219 Yates Ford Road, Clifton

Town of Vienna Sprinklers and Sparklers
July 4, 2:15 p.m.
Kids can cool off in the holiday heat at a makeshift waterpark, complete with water slides, water games, sprinklers and much more. This is the first of two events Vienna is holding for July 4. // Vienna Community Center: 120 Cherry St. SE, Vienna

Falls Church July 4th Celebration
July 4, 6 p.m.
Ice cream, popcorn, lemonade—all the essentials for a Fourth of July celebration will be there. In addition, this event will have food trucks, including Margaret’s Soul Food and Los Wingeez, and live music from The Darby Brothers. McLean 4th of July Fireworks Celebration
July 4, 6:30 p.m.
In addition to fireworks, McLean’s Independence Day celebration will include live music and food trucks. // Churchill Road Elementary School: 7100 Churchill Road, McLean

Town of Vienna 4th of July Fireworks
July 4, 7:15 p.m.
Rock band Mars Rodeo will play a selection of originals and covers, while families can purchase food and drinks sold at the Vienna Little League concession stand to hold them over until the fireworks show at dusk. // Yeonas Park: 1319 Ross Drive SW, Vienna

Evening Show & Fireworks
July 4, 9:30 p.m.
After enjoying the lively Fairfax parade, end the holiday with an equally-energetic music and fireworks show including the City of Fairfax band. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be moved to July 5. // Fairfax High School: 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax

4th of July Celebration
July 4, 9:30 p.m.
The day will be filled with entertainment and fun games for the kids, but the fireworks will start at approximately 9:30 p.m. (or when it gets dark). For optimal viewing, park at the Station Street municipal parking lot and stake out at the Herndon Municipal Center or Town Hall greens. // Bready Park: 814 Ferndale Ave., Herndon

Fauquier

July 4th Celebration at Three Fox Vineyards   
June 30–July 4
Put together a picnic and enjoy scenic vistas all while ringing in Independence Day. Spotsylvania Stars & Stripes Spectacular
June 30, 3 p.m.

Fredericksburg Heritage Festival
July 4, 7:45 a.m.- 10 p.m.
Run a 5K, participate in multiple parades, explore street festivals and watch a brilliant fireworks display at this all-day party meant to celebrate Fredericksburg on America’s birthday. // Downtown Fredericksburg

Fourth of July at Ferry Farm

Celebrate America’s birthday at George Washington’s childhood home. Tour the grounds, learn more about the country’s history through live reenactments and interactive activities, all while listening to patriotic tunes. Red White & BRAM Tailgate Party

Landsdowne Celebrates America  
July 1, 6-10 p.m.

Independence Day Celebration in Lovettsville
July 3, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Independence Day Parade

One of the more unique Fourth of July traditions in Prince William County, catch a spectacular firework display over the Potomac River on the beach outside of Tim’s Rivershore restaurant. Dale City Independence Day Parade and Family Fun Day
July 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Partnering with over 10 local organizations, the Dale City parade is one of the largest parades in the county. Meet local troops, politicians, performing arts groups and church leaders while engaging in family friendly games and enjoying local food vendors. // Dale Blvd., Dale City

Celebrate America
July 4, 3-10 p.m.
Enjoy one of the largest firework displays in the region in Historic Downtown Manassas. There will be small attractions for kids, food concessions and local vendors. Fourth of July Celebration
July 4, 6 p.m.

Independence Day Ballgame
July 4, 6:35 p.m.
Nothing goes better with the Fourth of July than a good ol’ game of baseball. Watch the Potomac Nationals face off against the Salem Red Sox before a massive fireworks display at the end of the game. // Northwest Federal Field at Pfitzner Stadium:  7 County Complex Court, Woodbridge
