The Loudoun County Fair will be held July 22 to 26 at the fairgrounds in Leesburg. The venue offers food, rodeos, music, and fun carnival rides.
Since 1936, the fair has showcased agricultural achievements and encouraged new generations to make their mark through 4-H, the youth development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension.
The event is hosted by the nonprofit organization Loudoun Fair & Associates. All fair proceeds are allocated to maintaining the fairgrounds for use by Loudoun’s 4-H clubs and other community organizations.
Special Loudoun County Fair Events
One of the most highly anticipated displays of the fair is the Blue Ribbon Showcase. Entries range from baking, gardening, photography, crafts, paintings, field crops, and jewelry. Judging occurs on July 20; attendees can view the ribbons and awards once the fair officially opens on July 22.
Don’t miss the Power Wheels Derby where kiddos can put their motor skills to the test. There are three youth age classes (3 to 5, 6 to 7, and 8 to 10). Judges will award one “best performance” trophy in each age group.
During a livestock auction on July 25, Loudoun’s 4-H youth will sell their market class project animals in a live-bid setting. Other events include a coloring contest, pig scramble, and a new attraction of Cow Pie Bingo on July 22.
Fair Food, Rides, and Other Attractions
A wide array of vendors will be at this year’s fair. They will be selling handcrafted goods, sweet treats, and savory bites. Food stations include A Southern Fish Fry, Haulin Butts BBQ, Hawaii Best Shaved Ice, Matchett Kettle Corn, and more. Other vendors include Empower Martial Arts, Hilt Face Painting, Pisces Moon LLC Jewelry, and Sketchy Guys Caricatures.
The Miss Loudoun County Fair Pageant was held on July 13. Judges crowned a Little Miss (ages 8 to11), Junior Miss (12 to 15), and Miss (16 to 19). The winners will be at the fair handing out ribbons at livestock shows throughout the week. They begin their term representing 4-H at community events during the upcoming year.
Other fair programming incudes Agricadabra magic shows and the Bar C Ranch petting zoo. And make sure to carve out some time to ride the cliff hanger, tilt-a-whirl, and the Wunder Wheel.
Musicical entertainment includes country, bluegrass, and rock tunes by Kitchen Trio, Rocknoceros, High Carbon Steel, and Mountain Highways.
There’s truly something for everyone, so dust off your boots and round up your friends and family for memorable festivities at the fairgrounds.
