Past Imperfect
Women’s History Month makes for a good opportunity to visit the Lucy Burns Museum at the Workhouse in Lorton. The former prison offers $5 guided tours through one of the most significant sites in feminist history, where suffragettes were held for protesting in front of the White House. The site also currently serves as a kind of artist community, with galleries, studios, and regular public performances. –James Finley, senior editor
Women Supporting Women
Over the past few years, I’ve started to make a point of supporting women wherever I can, whether it’s going to the movie theater to see a flick with an all-female cast or scouring the web to find a female-owned boutique to support instead of one of the chain retailers.
