7 in-person and virtual events for seniors this October

Fill your final few days of October by attending one of these events.

As October ticks on, you might have noticed it becoming harder to find social distanced activities.  Here are seven events for seniors to keep you busy and entertained during the last few weeks of October.

Autumn Texture Workshop

Oct. 21, 7 p.m.
Update your centerpiece for the autumn season by joining Helen Olivia Floral Design’s workshop. This at-home class guides participants on how to create their own floral arrangement. Those who sign up can either pick up their supplies or have them delivered. // Helen Olivia Floral Design: 1519 Leslie Ave., Alexandria; $100

55+ Scenic Bike Rides

Oct. 22, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Take in the beautiful fall foliage with a bike ride around Arlington. Join others in the community for some socializing and a leisurely ride along the trails around the city. // Shirlington Library: 4200 Campbell Ave., Arlington; free

Operation Medicine Cabinet Cleanout

Oct. 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
With all that time at home, it is probably a good time to clean out your medicine cabinet. If you have any expired or unused medication, you can take it to a nearby drop-off site for safe and proper disposal. // Various drop-off locations; free

Outdoor Needle Craft Group

Oct. 26, 10 a.m.-noon
Join other needle craft lovers for a morning in the park. Bring along your current knitting, crochet or needle craft project for some much needed socialization. // Virginia Highlands Park: 1600 S. Hayes St., Arlington; free

Senior Drive In Bingo

Oct. 28, 10-11 a.m.
Make your way over to Fredericksburg for a fun morning of Bingo. During this drive-in event, participants play from their car, with the numbers being called through the radio and with signs. The first 38 vehicles will be allowed to participate. // Dorothy Hart Community: 408 Canal St., Fredericksburg; free

An Afternoon with Third Coast Percussion

Oct. 30, 2-3 p.m.
Enjoy an at-home concert performed by Third Coast Percussion. The Grammy Award-winning ensemble will have a virtual performance and interactive lecture. This performance is available for residents of Fairfax County, Fairfax City and Falls Church only. // free

AR Workshop DIY-To-Go Kits

Pickup Fridays-Sundays
Spend your weekend crafting with the AR Workshop DIY-to-go kits. Create your own decorations for Halloween, autumn or Thanksgiving by choosing from dozens of projects.
