Mother’s Day (being held on Sunday, May 10 this year), much like Easter, is going to look different this year.

Brunch at your favorite restaurant will most likely be replaced with take-out boxes, morning mimosas will be served at home and there won’t be any trips to the spa quite yet (although you could win one, here).

But for Northern Virginians, there are more ways than one to honor your mom from a distance this year. Below, find everything from ordering a flower bouquet to treating her with a pint of ice cream.

Alexandria Mother’s Day Boutique Box
Boutique Boxes have been making their way across Northern Virginia since local retailers launched the initiative in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The Mother’s Day box is valued at $235 and features a pair of Baby Amalfi Hoops by Luv AJ, a black bamboo bag from Bishop Boutique, a Truffle Mini Clarity Clutch and Clarins Lip Oil from Bellacara, and a one-week pass to Mind the Mat Yoga and Pilates. // To order your Mother’s Day Boutique Box, email [email protected] by Monday, May 4; $183

AR Workshop Mother’s Day Kit
Looking for a way to pass the time on Mother’s Day this year? For the artistic, crafty or design-loving moms, order a Mother’s Day kit to build at home, from both the Alexandria and Reston locations. Choose from three design variations including a “Mama Needs Wine” tray, a “Mom’s Kitchen” tray or a pastel-colored rainbow tray. Included is a 6-inch-by-16-inch mini plank tray with handles and 12-inch-by-16-inch plank sign. All materials including stencils, wood, handles/hardware, a PrimARy Paint Essentials Kit, brushes and instructions are provided. Plus, Mom can even mix the paint colors to her preferred aesthetic. Curbside pickup and shipping options are available. // AR Workshop Alexandria: 1212 King St., Alexandria; $79-$100; AR Workshop Reston: 315 Spring St. Reston, Herndon; starts at $79.50

Nicecream Mother’s Day Gift Package
If you and Mom are looking forward to a future ice cream date, show her just how excited you are before you get to visit the shop in-person by sending two hand-packed pints of ice cream from Nicecream, and two additional “ice cream tokens,” good for a $5.99 ice cream purchase in-store. Flavor combinations include vanilla bean and honey lavender, Nutella and pistachio, and salted caramel and vanilla bean. Plus, orders can be locally delivered or picked up in store before the holiday. // Nicecream Clarendon: 2831 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington; Preorder by Wednesdays at noon for Thursday pickup from 3-7 p.m.; $30

Penny Post Mother’s Day Cards and Gifts
If celebrating Mother’s Day from afar, a handwritten card can mean the world with just a signature and a stamp. Pick from a variety of humorous and heartfelt cards at Penny Post, then add on an additional gift for the special honoree. Handcrafted jewelry, sweet-smelling candles, corkcicle canteens and more can take your distanced gift over the top. // Penny Post: 1201 King St., Alexandria; prices vary

Poppy x Alaya Tea Flowers + Tea Gift Set
Send your mom a beautiful bouquet of Rainforest Alliance-certified flowers from online vendor Poppy (based in DC), and two Fairtrade International-certified floral teas from Alaya this Mother’s Day. The gift set comes with 50 to 55 stems of event-quality flowers and a set of Alaya’s organic Darjeeling Second Flush Black and Darjeeling Green teas. Want to choose the color palette? Choose from Poppy’s “At Last” or “My Girl” kits. // Order by Friday, May 8; $99

Red Barn Mercantile Mother’s Day Gift Bundles
Just because you can’t go in the store doesn’t mean the staff at Red Barn Mercantile can’t make the perfect gift bundle for your mom, grandma or another special lady in your life. Contact the store through the online form and staff will reply with pictures and interpretations of your needs. Gifts can include anything from home decor to kitchen needs, to puzzles, games and more. Shop local and ship to your intended recipient to make her day even more special. // Red Barn Mercantile: 1117 King St., Alexandria; prices vary

Surprise Bookish Bundle from Old Town Books
If your Mom loves to read (and has been gathering quite the stack while social distancing), place an order for the surprise book bundle from Old Town Books, which includes $50 worth of books and book gifts for the intended recipient. Specify preferred genres, authors, etc. and the gift will be a pleasant surprise in more ways than one. As an extra-special add-on, you can even order a $20 bouquet for Mom too. // Old Town Books: 104 S. Union St., Alexandria; $50-$70

Stone Tower Winery Mother’s Day Brunch
You might not be able to brunch together at your favorite cafe, but you can still deliver a fantastic local meal to celebrate the day. The menu includes quiche with local vegetables, brunch potatoes with caramelized onions, coffee cake with cinnamon almond streusel, fresh local fruit, house-smoked bacon, fresh squeezed orange juice, one bottle of Blanc de Blanc and one bottle of Brut Rosé. Plus, Mom will receive a bouquet of flowers and a rosé tasting kit, where she can tune into Facebook at 3:30 p.m. for a live Mother’s Day tasting demonstration with Stone Tower Winery on Sunday, May 10. // Stone Tower Winery: 19925 Hogback Mountain Road, Leesburg; Order by Friday, May 8 (pickup as early as Thursday, May 7); $240
