There are many things associated with fall: trick-or-treating, hayrides, pumpkin picking. There’s also campfires and, of course, the s’mores to munch on while staying warm.
Find your next campfire at these eight upcoming events at parks across the region, below.
Fall Harvest Campfire
Friday, Oct. 25, 6-8 p.m.
At Riverbend Park, which was once farmland, celebrate the fall harvest with a campfire, fireside stories, s’mores and children’s games from the 1900s. Bring a toasting stick, blanket and flashlight. // Riverbend Park: 8700 Potomac Hills St., Great Falls; $10
My Sky Tonight Campfire
Saturday, Oct. 26, 7-8 p.m.
Take a moment out of your hectic life to stop, look up and marvel at the stars. At this campfire event, you’ll learn about the constellations and toast s’mores. Each family that attends will receive a guide to the season’s night sky. // Lake Fairfax: 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston; $7

Campfire Fridays
Friday, Nov. 1, 7-8:30 p.m.
At each Campfire Fridays event, held at Hidden Pond Nature Center, a park leader will cover a different topic and different area of the park. Ca mpfire, s’mores and animals are always guaranteed. // Hidden Pond Nature Center: 8511 Greeley Blvd., Springfield; $10
Owl Prowl and Campfire
Saturday, Nov. 9, 4-5:30 p.m.
Join a naturalist at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park for a nighttime hike to learn about the different owls in the region. You’ll learn what their calls sound like and how owls navigate the night. Night Hike Campfire
Saturday, Nov. 9, 7-9 p.m.
This nighttime walk will be led by a naturalist to search for wildlife at Riverbend Park. The hike will finish with a campfire, and s’mores will be provided. // Riverbend Park: 8700 Potomac Hills St., Great Falls; $8
Night Hike and Campfire: Full Moon Hike
Tuesday, Nov. 12, 6-7:30 p.m.
Explore the park after dark with a Potomac Overlook Regional Park naturalist on the night of the full moon. The naturalist will teach you why the moon is so full that night and how it affects wildlife. Then, end the night with a campfire and s’mores. Hot Dog, S’mores! Wagon Ride & Campfire
Wednesday, Nov. 13, 5:30-7 p.m.
Indulge in turkey hot dogs roasted over the campfire and a wagon ride through the Rocky Run Stream Valley to learn about the area’s local and natural history. Hot dogs, buns, condiments and s’mores will be provided. // Ellanor C. Lawrence Park: 5040 Walney Road, Chantilly; $10
Campfire Saturdays-Stargazing
Saturday, Nov. 30, 7-9 p.m.
Stroll along Burke Lake Park and learn about constellations and other night-sky finds with the park’s astronomical naturalist, who will identify stars for you.
