A new grocery store may soon be coming to the Tysons area. Fairfax County has received an application to convert 2051 Chain Bridge Rd., Vienna, into an Aldi, FFXNow reported. The space was formerly a Bed Bath & Beyond.
An Aldi spokesperson told FFXNow that the company did not have any information to share about a Tysons store. However, the company’s name and logo appear on plans submitted to the Department of Land and Development Services.
Draft plans show that Aldi plans to occupy 26,631 square feet, leaving 29,436 square feet for a second tenant. The renovation plans include changes like new plumbing, HVAC, and electrical, and new entry doors.
A permit hasn’t yet been issued for the new grocery store, but several county offices signed off on changes to “critical structures” on March 10.
The former Bed Bath & Beyond space has been vacant since 2022.
If the new grocery store is approved, this would be the first Aldi in Tysons. The low-cost, German-born brand has 75 stores in Virginia.
