EatLoco is bringing a new farmers market to Reston at the Halley Rise development. The market will operate on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning March 29.
EatLoco is the operator behind several of the area’s popular farmers markets, including ones in Ashbrook, Brambleton, and MetPark. It formerly operated an open-air market at Dulles Town Center, which is not returning this season. This is the first Fairfax County location.
This will be the third farmers market in Reston. There is a market at Lake Anne Plaza on Saturdays and a FreshFarm market at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Wednesdays.
The new market is located in the parking lot of the Halley Rise mixed-use development, near the intersection of Reston Parkway and Sunrise Valley Drive. Free parking is available, and the market is within walking distance of the Reston Town Center Metro Station.
The Halley Rise market currently has more than 60 vendors lined up, and that number will likely grow as it continues to take vendor applications, according to Lauren Katz, who became the new owner of EatLoco this week. Vendors will offer produce, hot and cold beverages, hot foods, prepared foods, bakery items, pet treats, and natural skin care.
Organizers also plan to host live music, exercise classes, and other social opportunities at the market. Children and leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome.
On the opening day March 29, there will be live music from Scott Kurt, as well as giveaways and a chance to see alpacas.
